Carey, a former top fashion model who stands at 5'10" was well-liked by American fashion houses like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father, who was a renowned scientist, who was awarded the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists' 1979 Scientist of the Year award is an accomplished geoscientist. In the course of his career Carey has been raised across the globe. As she attended in the University of Colorado at part-time and was able to catch the attention of Ford model Agency representative in New York. She moved to France in the year 1980, and lived for a short time in Paris and Bordeaux before deciding to return home to New York to continue with her education at college and build a modeling career. Soon, she was being featured on the cover of Vogue, Glamour, etc. While she was modeling, she was a full-time student obtaining a major of literature from New York University. Her interest grew in acting and began studying in the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. She began her acting career through a tiny part in the film 'Club Paradise' in 1986 with Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys in wind surfing, skiing, rock climbing and white water rafting.
