While this character brought the actress great attention but she was still adamant that the image about Mary Camden being a nice lady would hinder her abilities as a performer. To break the image she was partially dressed in the cover photo of Gear magazine. The Jessica's fans were furious at the move. The performance she gave in the sixth season ended her involvement with 7th Heaven. The film Ulee's Gold and her outstanding performance as a teenage Casey Jackson brought instant fame to her. The film even awarded her the title of award for the Best Young Supporting Actress in the film. Comedy film Summer Catch bears the proof of her amazing acting skills. In spite of her stellar performance in the Rules of Attraction her film did not receive much success. In the following years, her role in the movie The Texas Chainshaw Massacre caught people's attention. She's also been in suspenseful movies and proved herself an actor.
